About
Bas was born in 1954 in Amsterdam.
As an artist Bas goes back a long way: in the seventies, still at highschool, he designed gifts for "de Bijenkorf", made animated films, studied art at "de Rietveld academie" and started "Artwave" in 1979.
During the eighties Bas did all kinds of design work and worked in video postproduction and Vara television.
Recently, in 2003, getting angry about the American invasion of Irak, Bas decided to do what he wanted to do most from the time he was in his teens: making works of art: free unbounded art in which he can express his feelings, ideas and emotions, without a client telling him what he has to do.
Not surprisingly Bas finds inspiration in those aspects of daily life which he experiences as a-social and dangerous, tendencies that make the world a worse place to live in: war, aggresion, terrorism, spam, walt disney, computer games, religions of various kinds, etc.....
